Commentary on readings on Week 7 and 8
I remember writing this code years ago and the browser wars. The key to the demise of Netscape as a major player was the free inclusion of Internet Explorer in all the Microsoft software for purchase, in my opinion. While going through the tutorials and the the lecture, I found that it (HTML) has indeed gotten more sophisticated and complex. Some might even say unforgiving. I thin k that these tools are about the ability to being able to make an individual's voice heard among millions. It's amazing. While some doubt the validity of becoming familiar with them, my feeling is that the direction of our profession has to move towards meeting an individual's need to share information of all types. By doing this, we continue our mission to make all information available to all people everywhere. If we don't choose this path, the library will become once again become a place where exclusion serves the powerful and excludes those who are not.
